Model Introduction

Medicine added to Diets

Remark

Aortic dissection model

Aortic dissection (AD) is a critical and severe condition in clinical practice. It is caused by multiple factors that tear the intima and partial media of the aorta, which are then impacted by intravascular blood flow and separated along the longitudinal axis to form a connected or disconnected true and false lumen of the aortic wall. β-aminopropionitrile (BAPN) can be added to the feed in combination with angiotensin II (Ang II) to induce establishment.

Myocardial fibrosis model

Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) is a gut microbiota derived metabolite of dietary choline and other trimethylamine containing nutrients, which is associated with poor prognosis of coronary heart disease. TMAO plays an important role in cardiac fibrosis after myocardial infarction (MI).

Hypotension model

The hypotension model uses feed containing reserpine to feed animals to form an overall hypotensive state, which is more relevant to clinical practice and suitable for efficacy evaluation and mechanism exploration.

Hypertension model

Hypertension (HTN), also known as elevated blood pressure, is a phenomenon in which the pressure on the blood vessel wall caused by the flow of blood in the blood vessels remains higher than normal. By adding dexamethasone to the feed, a hypertension model can be established.

Cirrhotic portal hypertension model

Thioacetamide (TAA) is a hepatotoxic substance that can reduce the content of P450 in liver cell nuclei, inhibit respiratory metabolic enzyme activity in liver cell nuclei, increase liver cell DNA synthesis and mitosis, and lead to cirrhosis. The liver cirrhosis model produced by this method has histological changes similar to human liver cirrhosis, with significantly increased portal vein pressure and a certain degree of portal body traffic diversion.

Dilated cardiomyopathy model

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a serious cardiovascular disease characterized by myocardial cell necrosis and interstitial fibrosis, as well as cardiac enlargement, arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, and even sudden death.

Furazolidone

Hyperuricemia Model

Elevated uric acid levels can lead to crystal deposition and may cause gout, urolithiasis, and urate nephropathy. Ethambutol can increase uric acid levels by reducing renal uric acid clearance, ultimately leading to hyperuricemia.

Aplastic anemia model

Aplastic anemia (AA) is a syndrome of bone marrow hematopoietic failure caused by multiple factors, characterized by a decrease in whole blood cells. Busulfan can cause damage to hematopoietic stem cells in model animals, resulting in a significant reduction in the number of hematopoietic stem cells and a slower natural recovery. This model is suitable for research on drug treatment and screening for aplastic anemia.

Leukopenia model

Leukopenia, a condition in which the peripheral blood white blood cell count is persistently below normal, is one of the common blood disorders, and cyclophosphamide can lead to bone marrow suppression, in which leukopenia is more common.

Cyclophosphamide

Cholestasis/primary sclerosing cholangitis model

Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a cholestatic disease caused by disturbances in bile acid metabolism, characterized by multifocal narrowing of the bile duct, inflammation around the bile duct, and fibrosis. Feeding with DDC feed can establish this model.
